É o caso do adolescente de 19 anos de idade Broc Brown, que mora em Michigan. Broc sofre de Sotos, que é conhecido por alguns como gigantismo. É uma síndrome que faz com que ele cresça continuamente, uma média de 15 cm por ano. Hoje, ele é o maior adolescente do mundo. Acontece que atualmente Broc usa calçado número 28 (numeração americana). Esse é um número absurdo. Para vocês terem uma noção, uma pessoa que calça 46 no brasil usaria a numeração 14 nos EUA, imagine então o tamanho de um tênis 28.
O problema é que Broc nunca encontra sapatos. E quando encontra eles têm que ser encomendados e custa uma fortuna. E nem dá para culpar as fábricas. Acontece que elas pagam caro para criar o molde do calçado e quase ninguém usa esse número, então o dinheiro investido não é retornado. Por isso muitas não fabricam calçados nesse número. Quando fabricam, o cliente paga quase o custo de produção do molde.
