Na última quarta-feira, dia 28 de outubro, foi realizada, no Hospital do Câncer de Presidente Prudente (HRCPP), uma cirurgia com auxílio de impressão 3D. Que foi utilizada para produzir uma peça para reconstruir a mandíbula de um paciente.
O procedimento contou com os profissionais Thiago Freire Lima, cirurgião bucomaxilofacial, Diogo Gonçalves Ribeiro, coordenador do Departamento de Cabeça e Pescoço do HRCPP, Caio Cerávolo Lemos, onco-ortopedista, e João Lameu, anestesista.
Thiago, o cirurgião, disse que o procedimento foi realizado em um paciente oncológico que tinha uma lesão decorrente da radioterapia. Assim, eles geraram, com ajuda de uma tomografia, um biomodelo em 3D da mandíbula do paciente. Isso permitiu o estudo para uma reconstrução em um ambiente virtual, para que tudo estivesse preparado de forma assertiva durante a cirurgia do paciente.
Isso é importante, porque estando tudo pronto antes da cirurgia, há uma diminuição no tempo de anestesia, no tamanho da incisão, no tempo de internação e até de recuperação pós-operatória.

Surgery with the aid of 3D printing is performed in Presidente Prudente
Last Wednesday, October 28, a surgery was performed at the Presidente Prudente Cancer Hospital (HRCPP) with the aid of 3D printing. Which was used to produce a piece to reconstruct a patient’s jaw.
The procedure was attended by professionals Thiago Freire Lima, maxillofacial surgeon, Diogo Gonçalves Ribeiro, coordinator of the HRCPP Head and Neck Department, Caio Cerávolo Lemos, onco-orthopedist, and João Lameu, anesthetist.
Thiago, the surgeon, said the procedure was performed on an oncology patient who had an injury resulting from radiation therapy. Thus, they generated, with the help of a tomography, a 3D biomodel of the patient’s jaw. This allowed the study to be reconstructed in a virtual environment, so that everything was prepared assertively during the patient’s surgery.
This is important, because when everything is ready before surgery, there is a decrease in the time of anesthesia, the size of the incision, the length of hospital stay and even post-operative recovery.
